As a jeweler, it’s important to be able to anticipate your costs and schedule the timing of the steps it takes related to each design piece. This is a project-oriented class catered to each individual. You select the jewelry project we’ll use for the basis of your individualized instruction, whether it’s a pendant, ring, or other specific design you want to make. In this class you’ll learn how to forecast the necessary time, materials, and expenses for producing your specified design, and will estimate its retail price when done. Pricing can often be the most difficult part of doing custom work. The skills learned in this class will be invaluable in helping to set realistic pricing. This is not a jewelry-making class, but a design and planning course to teach you the skills necessary to plan and estimate the time it will take to complete every step of your design. * This class is a prerequisite for the subsequent class, Directed Study.
